EA Motive May Not Be Working on a New Star Wars | COGconnected

EA Motive Says “Human Error” Resulted in Star Wars Speculation

Since the release of Star Wars: Squadrons, people have speculated that EA Motive is working on a new Star Wars game based on language from Motive themselves, but they’ve recently clarified that they aren’t working on the Star Wars IP right now. Though they haven’t announced what their upcoming project is yet, EA Motive said recently that they aren’t working on Star Wars right now. EA Motive’s Star Wars: Squadrons is available right now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

In response to GamesRadar on Twitter EA Motive stated that “due to human error (hey, it happens!) we’ve seen a lot of speculation. While we’re not working on a new Star Wars project, we are working on something pretty special. Follow us here or check back for more info on what we’re up to!” Given this official statement from EA Motive, perhaps what people thought was a new Star Wars title is a separate IP set in space, but it’s likely a wording mistake when discussing titles they’re actively developing on and still having Star Wars: Squadrons on the brain.

A lot of people who took to the comments in EA Motive’s official Twitter statement expressed sadness regarding the Star Wars statement, alongside the expected trolls and further speculation. While they’re denying that Star Wars is currently on their agenda, EA Motive is being very vague about what the human error was and what they really are working on. While their statement may have been made to reduce speculation, it may have the opposite result as now gamers are wondering what’s next from EA Motive if it isn’t Star Wars.
