Oddworld: Soulstorm Gameplay – Putting Out One Fire at a Time in the First Stage

Oddworld: Soulstorm – First Stage Gameplay

Oddworld has been around since 1997 when the very first game, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, was released. In 2014, the developers Oddworld Inhabitants, released a remake of their first title and called it Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty. Now, almost seven years following that remake we get to jump into its sequel, Oddworld: Soulstorm. This latest title is a reimagining of Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, the second game in the franchise. Oddworld: Soulstorm features the world, characters, and charm of Abe’s Exoddus but offers much, much more.

Of course, if you want to see that for yourself, you need only to check out our gameplay video as we make our way through the very first stage of the game. As a note of importance, one that we, as amateur’s ourselves playing through the first level semi-ignored, it’s always a good thing to read through the instructions and tutorial provided. As you’ll find out, without these, it could lead to some minor confusion and/or panic during some key moments. All’s well that ends well however, so really, who’s counting the number of deaths here? You can view the first stage gameplay below.

And if you’re not 100% sure what to expect from Oddworld: Soulstorm, here’s a bit of information from the game’s website:

  • Witness Abe’s horrifying conflict with a terrifying new machination.
  • A fresh narrative – a complete story retake inspired by our original tale.
  • A big visual and cinematic leap aiming to break new ground for Oddworld.
  • Intelligent new mechanics, twisted new devices enabling highly explosive deviousness.
  • A dark parable that tells an epic tale of a volatile society pushed to its limits.

Oddworld: Soulstorm was released on April 6th for PS4, PS4, Xbox One & PC. Have you gotten to play the game yourself? What do you think about the game thus far?
