Another Successor to the Legacy of Silent Hill
Do you remember Visage? It’s all right if you don’t. A lot has happened lately. One early access horror game may have slipped your mind. But you have time now, so take a moment to close your eyes and… just… breathe. Terrible things have happened. This house isn’t safe any longer. You’re fine now, but will you still be fine in the future? The answers lie buried all around you–specifically, in Visage‘s new trailer. Go on. Take a look. It’ll be all right, we promise. Would we lie to you?
(NOTE: all joking aside, the trailer does include loud noises and jump scares. If that sounds like a bad time, maybe skip it and keep reading the article.)
Okay, for real this time: SadSquare Studio’s Visage is one of the many first-person horror games which grew out of the roots of P.T. In it, you must explore a huge house where terrible things have happened–murders, suicides, people losing their minds, the works. The environment will warp around you. The house itself will become a maze. But you must keep going. Every room has a story, and one way or another, those stories will be heard.
“In Visage, you are defenseless,” the official description warns. “no weapons could save you from the dreadful entities stalking you from the next corner, the next door, or underneath your feet. You’ll be able to pick up key elements, interact with the environment, and search for things that may help you escape this nightmare or pull you deeper into it.”
But dying isn’t all you have to worry about. In fact, death is just part of the game. What you really need to worry about is fear. The dark entities in this house are attracted to your terror, so stay in the light and try to keep your racing heart under control. This, the devs promise, will be easier said than done. After all, the human mind can only take so much fear before it starts to slip. If you’re looking for a dark, eerie game of solving surreal puzzles and exploring a claustrophobic house, give Visage a shot this Halloween. It’ll definitely keep you up at night.
Visage will be released on Steam for October 30th, 2020.
