Electronic Arts Confirms: Battlefield 6 Will Be On Current Gen Consoles

Holding On Strong

Electronic Arts held its official earnings call yesterday and confirmed some aspects of the impending launch of Battlefield 6, but the company did not reveal too much, to the disappointment of Battlefield fans far and wide. Electronic Arts Chief Executive Officer,  Andrew Wilson, confirmed that Battlefield 6 will be available on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One at launch as well as the current generation of consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.  Fans of the game, who are having difficulty attaining a PS5 due to the precarious nature of the industry at the moment, were curious as to whether the game would be available on current gen consoles as the game is known for its high graphical threshold and the fact that the standards may be pushing the current generations’ graphical abilities to its limits.

In response to the potential difficulties,  Mr. Wilson stated “The reference specifically from our prepared remarks was around the nature of gameplay – what we can do with the fidelity of the game, what we can do with the physics, artificial intelligence, and the immersive nature of the game. And in the case of Battlefield, what we can do with respect to the amount of players that we can have in the game, and the nature of destruction and those all-new Battlefield moments that are truly next-gen opportunities that we are able to do in the context of our next-gen franchises because of the increased processing power and memory and output of the new consoles.” In closing, Mr. Wilson noted that Battlefield 6 would be great on the current gen consoles but even more spectacular on the next gen consoles.

Electronic Arts is keeping gamers on the edge of their seat as very little news has been confirmed relating to Battlefield 6. As of right now, besides the confirmation of the release on current gen consoles and a confirmed battle royale mode, there has been a dearth of information on the game at this time. Fans are expecting a holiday launch date and some sort of reveal trailer or further information in June, based on an official tweet by Battefield’s Twitter on 10th May.
